Boating & Fishing

Rent a boat from us, or bring your own small boat and launch at our lakefront.

Ahmic Lake is at your doorstep with day trips up the Magnetawan River through the locks in the village of Magnetawan. Ride up to Burk’s Falls on Lake Cecebe and the Magnetawan River (fees are applicable to pass through the locks.) Or, stay on one of the lakes and do some sight-seeing, taking in the beautiful cottages and homes.

On Ahmic Lake, the surrounding lakes, and the Magnetawan River, you can catch many fish, like Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, and Pike. If you need fishing gear, bait and tackle, or fishing licenses, the Magnetawan Bait and Tackle is only a 5 minute drive down the road.

Swimming

There’s nothing better than a cooling dip to escape the summer heat! Our pool is open seasonally from June through August. Open and close dates vary based on weather and other factors, make sure to contact us before your stay to check the status of the pool.

If a beach is more your thing, there is a wonderful public beach that you can swim at in Magnetawan Centennial Park, only a 7 minute drive from Quiet Bay.

Camp fire fun

Pull up a Muskoka chair and enjoy a campfire at our fire pit down by the lake. Our large fire pit has room for 6 people to sit together comfortably. Buy some marsh-mellows and firewood from the nearby Magnetawan Bait and Tackle and get ready for some tasty fire-cooked treats!

Keep note that we have to adhere to local fire ratings for safety and to reduce the chance of forest fires. Check the latest fire rating so you know when you’re allowed to light a fire, or check with us if you have any doubts.

Wildlife watching

Quiet Bay is home to many animals! Dawn and dusk are the best time to see wildlife— and a morning or evening drive will only increase your chances of seeing something! A drive down old Nippising road is a great spot to see moose- and if you’re brave- during a night drive with the windows down, you might hear wolves howling.

  • May-June are the best time for seeing moose and bear

  • December-March is an excellent time for deer watching, as Ahmic Lake is a deer wintering ground

Here’s just a sample of animals we’ve had right on the property

  • Black bears, eastern wolves, red foxes

  • Moose and White-tailed Deer

  • Beavers and muskrat (we have 2 lodges in our bay!)

  • Bald eagles, Broadwing Hawks, Coopers Hawks, and Barred Owls

  • Hummingbirds, ravens, and wild turkeys

  • Pileated woodpeckers, Flickers, Hairy woodpeckers, and Downy woodpeckers

  • Woodcock, wood ducks, mallards, and geese

  • Snapping turtles, Painted turtles, Garter snakes and Red belly snakes (all non-venomous!)
